Still writing my dissertation (in anthropology) to be submitted to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the University of Tokyo.
Research: (1) The discourses and practices of the Japanese immigrant intellectuals in Brazil, (2) The history of the Japanese migration/migrant policy to Latin America, and (3) The impact of the economic crisis on the system of migration between Japan and Brazil
Research interests: anthropology, migration, mobility, migration politics, migration sciences, immigrant intellectuals, immigrant journalists, museum, collective memory, virtues, immigrant media, festivals, etc.; methodological issues concerning space and morality.
My recent article,「統合と再帰性:ブラジル日系社会の形成と移民知識人」 ("Integration and Reflexivity: Immigrant Intellectuals and the Formation of the Japanese Community in Brazil") is published in 移民研究年報(The Annual Review of Migration Studies), Vol. 17, 2011.
